John Michael Thompson, a loving father and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, at the age of 62. Born on March 3, 1961, in Springfield, he spent his life dedicated to his family and community.

John was the proud father of two wonderful children, Sarah and David, who were his greatest joy. He cherished every moment spent with them and loved sharing tales from his own childhood. John was known for his warm smile, sense of humor, and unwavering support for his family.

In addition to being a wonderful father, John worked for over 30 years as an electrician, where he was respected for his craftsmanship and dedication to his trade. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching his favorite sports teams.

John's kind heart and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Sarah and David; his brother, Tom; and many friends and extended family members. A celebration of life will be held on October 22, 2023, at the Springfield Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the local hospice organization that provided John with compassionate care in his final days.
