In Loving Memory of John Michael Anderson
John Michael Anderson, age 68, of Springfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 15, 2023. Born on March 22, 1955, in a small town in Kentucky, John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was a testament to his unwavering faith in God.
John was a lifelong member of Springfield Baptist Church, where he served as an elder and actively participated in various ministries. His compassionate spirit and generous heart were a beacon of light to all who knew him. He was passionate about spreading the love of Christ, often volunteering to help those in need and offering support to families within the church community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary Anne; their three children, Sarah (David) Thompson, Michael (Jessica) Anderson, and Rachel (James) Harrison; and eight cherished grandchildren, whom he adored and frequently doted upon. John was also a loving brother to his sister, Ellen, and brother, Paul, who both remember him for his playful spirit and kindhearted nature.
John's faith was the foundation of his life. He was a man of prayer and found solace in scripture, often sharing verses of encouragement with others. He loved to sing hymns and participated in the church choir, where his joyful voice inspired many. John's favorite verse was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," a belief he demonstrated in every aspect of his life.
The family invites all who knew and loved John to join them for a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Springfield Baptist Church, commencing with a visitation at 10:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be held in the church hall immediately following the service, with all attendees welcome to share their memories and stories of John.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Springfield Baptist Church’s outreach program, which John passionately supported, or to a charity of your choice that helps provide for the less fortunate.
Though John has departed from this earthly life, his legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. We find comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord, free from pain and filled with joy.
Rest in peace, dear husband, father, and friend. You will be dearly missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
